Rus, Steve and I hit Tilly Tues. No bites (nor did we see any.)

Great, 17 beautiful keeper crab ... some were huge. Three pots, minimum time.

Two things: Cookers were closed, (bad work ethics) and that created a problem. Most of us have wives .. don't like to cook at home.

Took Russ' boat, new canvas worked great. initial problem in starting the engine. We wasted some time being mucho mechanics until Steve checked the
batteries ... yep, loose terminal...

I want to purchase Scotty electric downriggers to mount on my 2001 SR19 and I am thinking to mount them approx. 6 inches forward of the aft cleats. I have
not purchased the downriggers as yet but have looked at some and at a friends Scottys. It appears to me that the bolt holes are on a 4" to 4 1/2"
pattern and the Scotty mount is fairly close to the gunwale width of my Arima. I know that many Arima owners have mounted Scotty downriggers and I am wondering

Russ (Streamfixer), Steve and I went to Tilly Thursday. Launched 0730, pulled 1500. Me, a nosing of my bait, no bite. Steve, a great bite with line
screeching ... alas no hook. Russ, according to him, a 45# fish, but Steve and I saw a small bottom sucker not much bigger then the Red Herring we were using.
We are keeping it a secret from his wife.

Good news, we were working 3 crab pots, took home 12 (4 each) 1 1/2 -2 pounds beautiful crab. Just finished picking my four.

I was in Wholesale Sports in Portland yesterday and I noticed they are starting to carry some high-quality, inexpensive gear (notice I didn't use the word
"cheap"). With the economy where it is, and the end of good weather bringing deep discounts on a lot of fishing gear, I think it might be a good
time to talk about stuff that works very well and didn't cost an arm and a leg. Here are a few of my suggestions... please chime in if you have others!
